I've been posting some of the market breath charts on Stocktwits and Twitter each week for a while to help drive some viewers to the site, and Kevin Cook who is a Senior Stock Strategist at Zacks is very active on Stocktwits and has private messaged me a few times about the sector charts I created and yesterday asked if he could use the sector visual in his weekly video. The chart shows a snapshot of all the nine major sectors in the US percentage above their 150 day moving averages data, along with the NYSE Percentage of Stocks above their 150 day moving averages ($NYA150R). So what this chart does is show you a breakdown by sector of the US market, which at last count covered 4839 stocks, and hence where the sector relative strength and weakness is in the broad market, and if the whole market is getting overbought or oversold.
What I think is really useful about it is though with relation to Weinstein's method is that you can use it to help determine the Stages of the broad market and the individual sectors as well like he does with his proprietary S&P Survey - which is the percentage of stocks in Stages 1 and 2, and as we've discussed recently, Weinstein said in the "Technically Speaking" interview way back, that the NYSE Percentage of Stocks above their 150 day moving averages chart has a 75-80% correlation with his proprietary Survey and so is a good proxy for us without access to his regular Global Trend Alert report.
