RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion - isatrader - 2016-03-03 (2016-03-03, 01:18 AM)wpeters Wrote: It can be quite tricky for sure. I haven't yet got to the point in the book where he delineates stages using letters so that explains why I was having difficulty with some of them. The first and last were the toughest. In the first I noticed that the 2nd major retracement below $6 didn't quite hit the previous low and the 30 week MA was still slightly pointing down so in a choice between a 4 or 1 I took 1. You won't find reference to the substages in the book, as it's something that he developed over the years following the book in his Global Trend Alert consultancy service and monthly newsletter. You can find reference to what they mean at the beginning of the Stan Weinstein thread here: http://stageanalysis.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=1&pid=1#pid1 and multiple links to other useful resources on the method. I've done a lot of work on this site, and on the original Stage Analysis thread on the trade2win forum to get much more indepth with the method as it exists today, and also the additions by other excellent traders such as Mark Minervinni, whose excellent book expanded on the trader method and introduced new concepts such as the Volatilty Contraction Pattern, which is very important in finding some of the best trader method setups. $SIL $EXK Stage 2A breakout - isatrader - 2016-03-04 Silver stocks saw some volume come into them today which lead to a few more Stage 2A breakouts in the sector. One of which was SIL, which is the Global X Silver Miners ETF, and so shows the silver stocks as a whole are starting to wake up following Golds continuing strength. SIL's top ten holding are: 13.08% Fresnillo 12.84% Silver Wheaton 11.69% Tahoe Resources 8.68% Industrias Penoles 5.39% Pan American Silver 5.28% First Majestic Silver 5.25% Coeur Mining 5.16% Alamos Gold 4.83% Polymetal International 4.80% Hecla Mining SIL made a Stage 2A breakout, although it still has resistance zone to work through, and is extended short term. But a strong positive imo, is that it had a failed Stage 4 continuation breakdown in January, before strongly reversing and now making the Stage 2A breakout on volume. A failed breakdown and then quick reversal is often a strong sign of bottom imo. The monthly chart is still in Stage 4B, but with the Stage 2A breakout attempt, it looks like it could be upgraded to a Stage 4B- on the monthly. EXK (Endeavour Silver) also made a Stage 2A breakout today and is showing a very similar pattern to the SIL ETF above. Relative performance is moving above a flattening zero line and volume was 2x the weekly average on this weeks breakout attempt, and a monthly chart in Stage 4B- So although quite extended short term after a strong month, things are looking more positive for Silver stocks currently, and we could be seeing the beginnings of a new Stage 2 advance in the silver stocks. RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion - isatrader - 2016-03-06 A few for the watchlist from Friday's volume scan, and a number of repeat stocks that have come up in the last month or so already, which is a positive market sign that breakouts have been working. They are in varying Stages between 1 & 2, but I haven't marked up Stages for you, but have added some resistance lines to help. It is good to see the S&P 500 equal weight utilities etf breaking out to new highs in there as well, as utilities led us out of the 2011 Stage 4 bottom as some of the first stocks to hit new highs, before money was rotated into the other beaten down sectors in early 2012. Here's the stocks for the watchlist: VSTO, SA, RIC.TO, MXL, KLDX, IMI, RYU, GFA, FSM, FR.TO, AKG.TO, KO, WRI, GES RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion - pcabc - 2016-03-06 Considering FVI.TO. Silver prices are breaking out. The downside is that the close price is only near the middle of the high - low range. So needs watching closely, as the silver breakouts mostly had very weak closes on friday, and most are very extended short term. RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion - pcabc - 2016-03-06 Silver miners. A lot of similar looking charts with interesting volume. Not breaking out but look at the volume: RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion - isatrader - 2016-03-08 A few fairly recent IPOs the US long watchlist: , ALRM (Stage 2A) SEDG (Stage 1) DLTH (Stage 1) RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion - isatrader - 2016-03-08 AMBA - Potential for a further Stage 4 continuation breakdown, as is rolling over following a pullback to the 10 week MA. |
