RE: Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis - Echevarriaeric - 2016-11-29 I would like an opinion on us stock HL... I left the stock because it seemed to be in stage 3... was I reading the chart correctly? I left the stock because it seemed to be in stage 3... was I reading the chart correctly? 30 w ave has not flattened yet. So still a 2B IMO but might well be heading for stage 3 just to early to say yet. You have move average compression which shows slowing momentum. They contain two plots per sector. For example for the US I'm using sector ETFs against (by default) the Wilshire 5000 index. So I plot the sector ETF and a (scaled) version of the W5000 to match. Below that I plot a relative strength graph which is the sector ETF divided by the W5000. My latest thoughts are that an appropriate period is three months. If the relative strength graph is rising then the EFT is stronger than the W5000. Also as a personal preference I would drop the shadow the data lines have as I feel it takes away from readability. thanks Feedback appreciated. I've made the Y axis taller for the RS part of the plot for next time. Unfortunately though I have no control over the formatting of the charts apart from the line colour owing to the charting library I'm using. I've had thoughts of reworking this in a similar fashion to my main charts for a while, but I need to get some time to do so. One thing that is missing from these charts is the interactive feature I have on my computer, as I can select any sector as the 'base' reference for the RS plots. Therefore if I pick a sector that looks strong as the base then it is clear if it is strong as all the other RS charts will slope downward. Thought about plotting a matrix of thumbnail charts so that everything is plotted against everything else, but if you have one base index and eight sectors that gives you a 9x9 matrix which would only be workable for those with excellent eyesight and huge monitors. Also not good for file sizes. I'll have to think of a cunning plan. However, more radical rework will come at some point.
