That's why I show the sector lists each week in the main Stan Weinstein thread here: http://stageanalysis.net/forum/showthrea...31#pid4131 as it gives everyone the ability to do that analysis for themselves. But for the watchlist, stocks are only selected based on their individual chart pattern. It's then up to the individual to do the extra work necessary, as you not only need to compare the sector performance, but also to all the individual stocks within that sector also.

I also link to the page on stockcharts here: http://stockcharts.com/freecharts/indust...ECTOR_SPDR that has the sector tables which can be adjusted to show different lengths of time. For example, one week, one month, three months, six months or one year etc. And you can click through to see all the stocks charts within that sector.

You can also use another free tool on chartmill.com here: http://www.chartmill.com/sectorrankings....1&t=C2&s=5 which has the ability to rank the sectors by average relative strength, and uses the Mansfield RS for this, and hence goes well with the method. However, the sectors are not the same as stockcharts as it uses yahoo sectors and the stocks in them are not kept uptodate. So hence, stockcharts which uses the Dow Jones Sub Sectors and charts for all of them is what I favour using.

I've been watching QID and BIS, but wary due to the Stan rule of volume build-ups below the 150 day ma (in this case down-sloping 150 day ma).

On another note I wanted to highlight QID - which is the Proshares Ultrashort QQQ Nasdaq ETF, and BIS, which is the Proshares Ultrashort Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF, both of which continue to show an extreme build up in volume.

It was more a comment for the actual index charts of these like the Nasdaq itself, as the short covering / accumulation in the ultrashort ETFs is another warning sign that the Nasdaq is close to completing Stage 3 and could move into a full Stage 4 decline.

I wouldn't recommend using either of these to trade with, as the tracking error compared to the indexes they represent is very bad. For example these are still in Stage 4B-, whereas the indexes themselves are in Stage 3. Which if you flip them on their head like these are, then they should be in Stage 1. So the tracking error has made them a whole stage out. So stick to the indexes themselves imo as leveraged ETFS have terrible tracking error in most cases..

shorted 600 CYH at the open at 36.75, thanks for that! Big Grin

There could be a potentially interesting free webinar to view later today by Mark Minervini, whose method has a lot of similarities to Weinstein's Trader method and cites it throughout his book, although he includes fundamentals as well in his method.

Yeah - his book is really good. He uses stage analysis and then filters down based on EPS and Sales growth to find the stocks likely to explode into action. His private access is a bit pricey though at $499 a month (based on annual sub) - makes the elite membership on this site a complete bargain ;-)

AMCX and PGTI are a few potential Stage 4A additions to the short watchlist intraday, although both have been trying to recover and have traded up since the open towards their breakdown levels. So will be interesting to see how they close today and at the end of the week.
