RE: Stan Weinstein Stage Analysis and Market Breadth

I took some time this weekend to practice identifying the stages of stocks by comparing the stage identified in an old GTA. I then decided to identify the current stage of the S&P 500 stocks. See summary below. I made a column for general stage (i.e. 1,2,3,4) and detailed stage (i.e. 1a,1b,2a, etc.).

There were many stocks that were stage 2b (I took 2b as meaning that the price range of the stock was beginning to overlap with the previous weeks prices, but still in an uptrend) in the last few weeks, but in the most recent week they closed below previous weeks prices. I gave those a stage 3a. I'd welcome any feedback and also if anyone disagrees with the stages.

Stage Count Percent
1 /59/ 11.68%
2 /115/ 22.77%
3 /144/ 28.51%
4/ 187/ 37.03%
Total =  505
