Major US Stock Indexes Update - NYSE, Nasdaq, S&P 500, DJIA & S&P 600 small caps

Here's the overview charts of the US Bullish Percent and Moving Average Breadth.

Note: the Nasdaq Composite joins the small caps, closing the week back in Stage 2 again for the first time in many months. Although the closing price was barely above the high, so it's not a confirmed yet. Other positives though is that the S&P 500 and Dow 30 both made breakouts within their Stage 3 ranges, and are approaching the tops of their Stage 3 ranges. So there's potential for those to also move back in to Stage 2 in the coming weeks if the momentum continues in them.

Another promising development this week for the weight of evidence was that the NYSE Bullish Percent Index, which is the long term indicator for the market, had a double top breakout and moved back to Bull Confirmed status.

RE: Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis

Thank you grbaNT, I subscribe to what you wrote.

I'm relieved that large caps at last catch up to their Small and Mid counterparts, although given the signals of the past weeks I was not overly pessimistic. Bodes well for the future. Seems like we are on our way to erasing the impact of the Feb/March correction.

For the past few weeks I've been maintaining a very simple index of my own: for each of the graph I'm keeping an eye on (which has inflated to 87 now and may well benefit from my current reading of Yardeni's book to grow to an even higher number), I'm ascribing a traffic light colour on the way to the Bullish highway Wink . Green light (3 points), orange (2) or red (1). Then I average the whole lot.

Current reading is 2.45 (lowest reading when I started for the week ending 4th of May: 2.10. ie a +17% progression since that). Not meant as anything than a personal gauge to i) see if I'm able to read the signs correctly and ii) track the correlation with future development of the market (ie make sure that the time spending updating charts is well spent), but I thought I would share it with you guys.

Many thanks again for the collective effort Isatrader and grbaNT (ever thought of a nickname for your pseudo? I have to systematically copy/paste it for fear of mispelling it Wink), I've grown super-addict to this website !

RE: Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis

Attached are the updated charts of the RABWDB Indicator, Individual Phases, SP500 RABWDB, SP400 RABWDB and SP600 RABWDB.

Quick description of the indicator: Sample is the same as for the Survey (2287 stocks). Stock classification is done as per Chuck Dukas's TrendAdvisor Diamond described in his book (see attached TrendAdvisor Diamond). Stocks in bullish, accumulation and recovery phases are considered healthy and cumulatively plotted as an oscillator, same as in the Survey. Those in warning, distribution and bearish phases are considered technically unhealthy.
